Before the start of the global pandemic, heated discussions on mortality risk usually took place in very specific situations, and usually only between actuaries and demographers. Then in early 2020, everything changed. Mortality risk was suddenly front and centre in the news and in discussions with friends and family. As the pandemic progressed the headline reporting went away, but unfortunately the story has not.
