How your assistance program works

Written by TELUS Health | 20 August, 2025

Life isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes challenges, big or small, can affect our wellbeing, relationships or performance at work. That’s where your assistance program comes in.

Your assistance program (often called an Employee Assistance Program, or EAP) is a confidential service, available at no cost to you, that provides support for everyday life as well as during more difficult times.

It’s designed to be simple, accessible, and always there when you need it.

What the assistance program can help with

Life brings all kinds of challenges, big and small. Your program can support you with things like:

  • Emotional wellbeing: stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout, grief, or coping with change

  • Relationships and family life: parenting, childcare, elder care, separation, or adoption

  • Work and career: workplace stress, conflict, adjusting to change, or finding better balance

  • Practical matters: money management, budgeting or debt worries

  • Health and safety: living well with health conditions, recovery after illness or injury, or dealing with substance use (your own or someone else’s)

The program is designed for prevention and early support — so you don’t have to wait until something feels “serious” before reaching out.

How to access the program

You can reach your assistance program anytime, in the way that works best for you:

  • Phone (24/7)

  • Secure app

  • Online portal

  • Live chat or video sessions

If you don’t have the details handy, check your organisation’s internal website or ask your HR team for the program link or number.

Your privacy comes first

Your use of the assistance program is completely confidential. Your employer will never know that you’ve accessed it, unless you choose to share that information. The only exception is if a professional is legally required to act to keep you or others safe.

Support that extends to your whole life

While many people use the program for short-term concerns, TELUS Health’s approach goes further. You’ll have access to digital resources, wellbeing tools, and ongoing support options that help you maintain balance and resilience every day.

Remember

Whether you’re managing stress, navigating change, or simply want guidance before a small concern grows bigger, your assistance program is here for you — anytime, anywhere.
